2017 Reflection

Happy January Lovelies!

I know almost every blogger has done a 2018 goals and resolutions post but I am going to do a little reflective blog post on 2017! I am going to share some life lessons I have learned through the year and just how my 2017 went! Reflecting has been something I have been doing a lot more of lately and I know it will be nice to look back on it also!

2017 was overall a great year! While it did also have some downs I'm lucky enough to say there wasn't so many! I am going to break it down into little sections! This post is probably going to be a long one, so pop on the kettle! Travel, Fitness and Lifestyle  are going to be the main topics for this post!

The first thing that I remember in 2017 that's memorable was buying my car! It had been a very, very long time in the making, but it happened in the end and I couldn't have been happier! Sometimes i question having a new car, but then I realise the amount of driving I do, with work and now college! Some people buy themselves designer shoes and handbags as a treat, mine was my car! For as long as I can remember, I always loved cars and I don't see that going away anytime soon!

Our bedroom makeover!! Now if 2017 was to have a highlight, I would pick that one! I will link that blogpost here! If you actually saw the mattress we had been sleeping on for four years!!! It was scarily ridiculous, so even if we had only bought a new mattress then it would still have been a highlight of the year! Haha!

The launch of and rebranding! Orla's Beauty Secrets no longer represented who I was! I wasn't posting a lot about beauty and just didn't feel the love for beauty as I previously had! By rebranding my website and Social Media accounts, I have the freedom to chat about anything! And I love having that freedom! I don't get to write as much as I would like to but 2018 is going to see that change!
Stepping in front of a professional photographer! If I have one regret of 2017, it's not doing more of this. Hopefully 2018 will see that change too! I do post the odd OOTD post over on Instagram! While it may more often be gym gear rather than "normal" clothes but I do love to get dressed up too so, when I do, the proof will always be on instagram! Haha!
2017 was a year for making memories with my family but I want to make 2018 better! Family is the most important thing to me! Not just my close family but extended family too! Memories are what will live on not materialistic things!

Starting an 8 week programme with Nathalie was not only fitness but it was also lifestyle! My whole life has changed since May 2017! Not only has my physical health improved, so has my mental health! I am a more positive person! I am sooo much more happier! I posted a photo recently on my instagram, and while it was a physical transformation but there was also something else in that photo that was a transformation! The smile in the 2nd photo was the most important change for me! Another blog post to follow on that!

Going back to College!
It was always something I wanted to do but never found the right time! And One day I just bit the bullet and applied and low and behold I got accepted and began in September! It's going to be a tough 3 years whilst also working full time and travelling up and down to Waterford once a week but hopefully it will all be worth it!

I could talk so much more about lifestyle in 2017 but they were the highlights for me!

Travel has my heart! Travel doesn't have to be travelling abroad but the highlight of 2017 travels for me was our 2nd trip to Vegas! If you ever get the chance, please go! It is such a beautiful city! I honestly have no idea how people go there for a 4 day city break! In total we have spent 17 days there and we could easily go a 3rd and 4th time! We will get back there for a 3rd but not this year! It's time to see somewhere else this year!

Going to Hakkassans Night club, not once but twice! This was an experience in itself! I'm not the biggest fans of nightclubs, but I would happily go to this one over and over!

I was lucky enough to see a bit of Ireland in 2017 also! Including Waterford, Dun Laoghaire, Ballybunion, Kinsale, Killarney and Dublin! Nothing too extravagant but I'm very grateful for all those little trips!

Travel is something I want to expand on in 2018! May not be abroad but I definitely want to do more staycations! There will hopefully be a least 1 trip abroad this year, we've not yet decided what kind of holiday we want this year! I also would love to go to a Christmas Market in December as a long weekend maybe, But we definitely want somewhere with sun in the summer! Any suggestions?

January 2017, I swore I was going to get healthy, get fit and loose weight! Anthony had started a program with Go Beyond, but I didn't have the money at the time so I just joined the gym a month at a time and was just pottering away! My diet, was just basically the meat that was letover from Ant's meals! So for example if he had to have 50grams of steak, but the one in the packet weighed 80grams, I would cook the extras for myself! I had absolutely no idea about nutrition! I was exercising but my body was not getting the right foods or enough food even! I'd binge then on the way home from work with a pizza because, my excuse was "I had a tough day at work"!

I was sitting in Mondello park at Round 1 or 2, not sure, of IDC, and I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across Nathalie's Instagram and I gave her a message! I had messaged many pt's over the years but never did anything! But something about Nathalie's replies made me want to commit! She sent me the questionnaire through e-mail a few days later, I filled it out, and I have never looked back! I began my fitness journey in May 2017, and to look back at photos and see just how far I have come has made me proud of myself! I never thought I could commit to the gym or to a meal plan, let alone fall in love with going to the gym!

I only started really documenting my fitness journey in the last few months because, if I can do it, You can too! I am going to do a full post on it, but beginning my fitness journey was the highest of 2017 highlights for me!

Hopefully, you didn't find this post too boring! I just write from the heart and keep on writing and sometimes I feel like I am waffling! But not only is this a place to share things with you guys, it's like my own little life diary on the internet!

Let's head into week 2 of 2018 with our goals in mind and SMASH the week!
