Cleaning your Make Up Brushes

Majority of us use Make Up brushes to apply our Make Up but often forget they also need to be cleaned. Cleaning your brushes should be as important as your beauty and skincare regime.
When you use your brushes, they gather dirt and bacteria between the bristles. And if not cleaned they transfer to your skin which in turn causes clogged pores, breakouts etc.
All your hard work looking after your skin is gone down the drain as soon as you put that make up brush on your face.

Firstly you need to invest in a daily brush cleanser and then once a week do a deep clean. For the daily cleanser I like to use MAC's brush cleanser. Simply pop a drop onto a cotton pad and use swirling motions with the brush on the pad. You can pick this up for about €13 I think. and it lasts forever.

For the deep clean once weekly( the most important one) you will need:
  • Sponge
  • Baby shampoo or a very gently shampoo
  • Lukewarm water
  • A shallow bowl
  • Cloth
  1. First, rinse the bristles of the brush under lukewarm water to remove the make up residue. Try to focus mainly on the brush part and avoid the handle, as this can loosen the bristles over time.
  2. Fill your bowl with lukewarm water and pop a drop of shampoo into the bowl.
  3. Dip the bristles of the brush into the water and using your sponge swirl your brush into the sponge to work up a lather.
  4. Rinse the brush again under lukewarm water, making sure all the make up is gone.
  5. Repeat if necessary.
  6. Shake excess water the brush.
  7. Using your cloth wipe the bristles, reshaping your brushes.
  8. Lay your brushes flat to dry.

Well there you go. How to clean your brushes properly.
Get the best out of your make up and spend time on cleaning those brushes:)
